Penn State Forest Health, Insect and Disease seminar; March 27th 2018
On March 27th 2018, FORECON Inc. foresters attended the Penn State Forest Health, Insect and Disease seminar held at the Penn State Hotel conference center, State College, Pennsylvania. There were approximately 460 people in attendance. Presentations throughout the day primarily focused on two topics; Potential impacts of the exotic fruit fly Drosophila Suzukii Best management practices for the Spotted Lanternfly Scott Stoleson, Research Wildlife Biologist, USDA Forest Service, spoke on the Potential Implications of the Exotic Fruit Fly, Drosophila suzukii, on the Allegheny National Forest (ANF) Ecosytem. And Timothy Marasco, DCNR Bureau of Forestry in Harrisburg updated us on the Spotted Lanternfly (Lycorma delictula) infestation in Southeast Pennsylvania.

In early February, the Forest Landowner’s Association (FLA) held its annual Board of Directors meeting in Washington, DC to discuss plans, policies and progress the FLA has made in promoting the needs of private forest landowners throughout the United States. During our stay in DC, we take the time to meet with various Representatives and Senators to discuss the issues that affect their constituents and provide them with expert advice on how to best meet their needs.
