 Urban and Community Forest Management
Forestry is traditionally associated with the management of large tracts of timberland and smaller woodlots. Often these forests are quite removed from the daily lives of most people, however, all of the trees within a village, town or city make up a community forest and can include street trees and shade trees in yards, parks, cemeteries, school grounds, and undeveloped green spaces.
 Urban and Community Forestry is the art and science of managing community forests to establish and maintain healthy trees for air and water quality benefits, carbon sequestration, energy savings, environmental health, and the overall quality of life for urban and suburban residents. The urban and community forest also contains wildlife, waterways, roads, paths and structures that residents can enjoy year round.

- Evaluation of trees for the risk they may pose to the community, develop work plans for the municipality and aid in risk reduction budget plans

- Assist schools and communities in conducting Arbor Day celebrations, give talks on invasive species, proper planting and pruning techniques
- Public Relations in working with the public on tree care and community ordinances

TreeWorks® provides an innovative approach allowing users to not only easily build their tree inventory, but also continue updating it on a regular basis with a PDA or Tablet PC. TreeWorks® also provides management tools to plan and track maintenance work, calculate appraised values, analyze and visualize data, and produce maps and reports.
