Our Titusville, Pennsylvania regional office seeks a highly-motivated, full-time Forest Resource Field Leader to help support and oversee forest vegetation management project work within FORECON’s Forest Resource Services (FRS) business unit. The ideal candidate will hold a valid Pennsylvania pesticide applicators license and reside within 30 miles of Titusville, PA. $38,000 – $56,000/year starting compensation, commensurate with experience.

FORECON’s Forest Resource Services sector is rapidly expanding, and provides vegetation-management services for forest landowners of various sizes. Services include: forest woody and herbaceous vegetation control, invasive plant & pest management, insect & pathogen control, and tree planting.

Principal Duties Include:

• Support and oversee vegetation management projects
• Support, direct & supervise Forest Resource Specialists & field crew(s)
• Help in hiring sector employees
• Work directly with management on project bids & proposals
• Develop weekly sector workload reports
• Ensure quality and project thresholds are met
• Perform equipment inspections & routine maintenance
• Implement safety protocols & ensure regulatory compliance
• Ensure accurate application records
• Assist in herbicide & pesticide application
• Assist in forestry (marking & cruising) work during autumn and winter

Principal Requirements include:

• NY or PA state Herbicide & Pesticide Applicator License required; ability to obtain reciprocal state license preferred
• 1 to 2 years’ experience in practical forest vegetation management or practical field forestry
• Ability to identify common native and invasive herbaceous and woody species
• Experience in personnel and project management
• Must be able to lift/carry items and equipment weighing 40lbs. or less
• Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time
• Must be competent in the use of basic hand tools, including hatchets, shovels, pick-axes, etc.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record to operate company vehicles
• Basic knowledge of office software: Word; Excel; Access and PowerPoint
• Ability to use GPS and navigation software such as Avenza
• Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability and willingness to work out of town as assigned for 1-2 week time periods
