TIGER Growth and Yield Model

Utilized throughout the hardwood forests of the northeastern United States, Forecon Inc’s. TIGER Growth and Yield Model has been developed to assist forest managers with forest planning and silviculture. TIGER is a true, stand level, single-tree growth model based upon U.S. Forest Service research and has been built to simulate future forest conditions by calculating mortality, diameter growth, and stem promotion during each growth iteration.

Properly formatted inventory data can be imported into a TIGER database where initial values are calculated prior to starting the growth process. The algorithm then grows the data for the selected number of years. After each yearly growth iteration the growth is broken up into quarters and reports are generated. Standard output consists of volume, stem, and basal area stand and stock tables, and aggregated quarterly reports. Quarterly reports show initial quarterly volumes, growth, harvest volume removals from any post-harvest residual cruises, and ending quarterly volumes.

Once an inventory has been imported into a TIGER database the hard work is done! Customizable output allows TIGER data to be formatted for any accounting system, tied to spatial data for visualization or analytics, or served through our interactive TIGERWeb map portal. TIGER data also flows into our new ForestSim software for harvest simulation and advanced discounted cash flow modeling.

Utilize TIGER & TIGERWeb for day-to-day management activities, acquisition inventories, appraisals, budgeting, or timber harvest scheduling. And look forward to the new TIGERWeb version due to be launched mid-2016 that includes even more interactive features like “in map” shapefile drawing & editing, the ability to import and view your GPS data in the map with your existing data, and enhanced query, reporting, and visualization tools.
